Feeding America through Farm Flexibility Act of 2015

Congresswoman Kelly introduced the “Feeding America through Farm Flexibility Act of 2015.” The legislation would allow growers to increase the number of base acres that they could use to grow fruits and vegetables without a resulting reduction in payment acres. That freedom would be allowed if the fruits and vegetables harvested from the acreage are used to help alleviate a food desert.

1,800 farmers operate 1,200 farms totaling 500,000 acres producing $367 million worth of products every year in the Illinois’ 2nd Congressional District.
